Bonsai Skosh is a portal to showcase my work.

My name is Boris Lomov and I am a bonsai pot maker located in Australia. All my pots are handmade. I specialise in painted (e. g. sometsuke, aka-e) and wood-fired bonsai pots. My style is strongly influenced by aesthetics of the Far East, especially Japan, and I sign my work with an artist sobriquet 木川 (Kigawa) which is a rough translation of my last name to Japanese. Pottery is not my full-time occupation and I sell bonsai pots only occasionally.

Below, my work is divided into three categories. Click on images to see more pots of each type.

WOOD-FIRED POTS These pots undergo a lengthy and labor intensive process of firing in the kiln where wood is used as fuel. The results are unpredictable and unrepeatable.

PAINTED POTS The designs on these pots are hand-painted. It takes many hours to complete a single small pot. My painting style is influenced by the Japanese traditions.
